Hi

I love taking photos. I love collecting (and shooting with) vintage lenses (and maybe couple cameras).

Share your best photo or your collection

I tried to upload and post one but it says you can’t embed media in a post. So I deleted the words…still no dice. I don’t have a lot of them hosted elsewhere—I think photobucket deleted my account.

I shot about 250K images in 10 years. At first it was lots of macro stuff. Lately it’s travel. I like micro four thirds (Olympus, Panasonic) equipment.

I had Oly Pen-F and I still think it’s the best camera on the market! (+Mitakon 25mm 0.95 lens)

Now I’m using Fuji XE3 with speedbooster and a ton of vintage lenses.

My fav:

  • Minolta MD III 50mm 1.4
  • Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm 2.0
  • Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 75mm 1.5
  • Meyer Optik Görlitz Trioplan 100mm 2.8
  • Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon MC 35mm 2.4

If only Olympus Pen-F was APCS or FF…

Actually, when I started the DSLR thing, it was 4/3 (not yet micro 4/3). I still use Olympus E-30. I have over 100K clicks on it. I tried some vintage lenses as well. My biggest set up was a manual focus Vivitar series 1 70-210 with a reversing ring to a 50mm Minolta f1.7 to see how macro I could go. It’s cumbersome and has almost zero depth of field. I’m jealous of that 1X-5X Canon offers but realistically I need to figure out focus stacking.

How do you like the speedbooster? As you may know, the (micro) four thirds system ends at 7mm, or 14mm EFL…I have a 9mm but sometimes I’d like to go wider.

On MFT I was happy with Mitakon Lens Turbo II.
No I use Metabones Speedbooster Minolta SR → Fuji and with a lot of lenses aperture is stuck wide open (that’s fine in 99% of cases) buuuuuuuuut I can use M42->Minolta SR adapter and use lenses like the ones I listed above

Minolta MD II 50mm 1.4 works fine but MD III 35mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.7 stay open.
