Photos composed of other photos

Back in the 70s you could get a poster or shirt whose pixels were ASCII symbols instead of dots.

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of photos made up (wholly or in part) of collections of other photos as in:

I’m just curious if there is any shareware available (Mac or PC) that does this kind of effect, and if so, where?

That’s called a mosaic. I don’t know of a program that does this, though…

ArcSoft’s PhotoImpression 2000 can do it.
