Photoshop Help Needed

OK, so I’m a klutz… This is not news.

The setup:

Photoshop 4.x on a rather decrepit Win98 machine.

The task:

Take 3 separate images and get them onto a single image to print.
More specifically: Front, back, and spine of a VHS box scanned and re-sized to DVD case dimensions.
(yes, I’m converting my video collection. AFAIK, this is still legal).

The problem:

Once I get the artwork in JPG format (5.125" x 7.187" front & back, .50" X 7.187" spine) and try to create a new image, I cannot get the JPGs to copy correctly - if I copy & paste, they lose about 1/3 of their original dimensions, and I can’t find any way other than C&P to copy the images.

Help!

p.s. - I am barely aware of layers, if that gives you a sense of my abilities with photoshop.

If you don’t mind, email me the images, it’ll take me a minute.

I don’t understand the “1/3rd” part, do they appear smaller or are parts of the images cut?

Most likely, the dpi of the template in which you’re pasting is different from the dpi of the original scans. Load the JPGs and in Image->Image Size, check the resolution. Then create a new document with the same resolution (in terms of dpi)

Substitute pixels/inch for dpi

What are the dimensions of the new file? It needs to be at least 10.75 x 7.187, at the same resolution as the originals.

Thanks!

I was changing the resolution from 200 dpi (scanner (yes, it’s old) to 300 dpi for the printer.

Leaving it at 200 seems to solve the problem.
