Piano harp ideas please?

With a couple of friends, I’ve started a hauling business. We recycle everything that can possibly be recycled, and this means we deconstruct items that are either in too bad shape or too big to be donated and recycle everything seperately.

We have just de-constructed an old upright piano and can reuse or recycle pretty much everything. But I am really torn about the cast iron harp. I would love to see it reused as some sort of art piece rather than taking it to the recyclers. It has a lovely form and I have a fondness for cast iron.

My initial thought is to make into a large yard art windchime. But it would have to have a HUGE heavy frame. This thing weighs in between 150-200 lbs and stants right at about 3.5 ft tall. The width is about 4 ft and at its thickest, right about 1.5 inches.

Piano harp A few pictures of the thing. Please ignore the messy garage surrounding the harp.

Thanks in advance!

If you could contrive a seat and frame for that, you could make it into a unique bench.

Contact your local university’s art department and see if there are any sculpture majors or professors who will take it off your hands.

I like jayjay’s bench idea, though. It would look nice in a garden, but you’d want to protect the cast iron from rust somehow.

I like the bench idea very much indeed.

Luckily, one of my partners is a retired carpenter and this might just be right up his alley. Thank you both

Messy garage!!! OMG! My brain is going to explode! Not.

There’s a wine bar near me that has a coffee table made from a piano harp. The harp is mounted on wooden legs and it has a contoured piece of glass for the top. It’s very cool.
