Pick a Fucking Date, Will Ya, Amazon?

I’m checking around the net to try and find the DVD release date for Naqoyqatsi. The last time I checked to see if Amazon had any information about it, all they had were the listed showtimes for theaters no where near my area. So I start digging around and find the official discussion board for the film. Sure enough, there’s a thread on the release date, open it up and start looking for answers. One poster says

Well, that’s not too far off, I can probably live till then. The next post is a couple of weeks later and it says

Whoa! Kick ass! I hie myself on over to Amazon to see about pre-ordering it and what do I see?[

I know studios play with the release dates time and time again (For All Mankind was delayed on DVD something like six months from it’s original planned release date), but come on, guys, they don’t announce that they are going to release a movie on DVD this year, and then suddenly say, “Nope! Screw it! We’re gonna put it off for about 7 years.” Unless, of course, they were hoping to use the (by then, the much anticipated DVD [or whatever format we’ve been forced to switch to]) release as a distraction so we don’t notice that Jupiter’s suddenly turned into a fucking star, and we’re now a binary star system.

But hey, I can take comfort in this notice on the page

Oh yeah, like I know where I’m gonna be living seven fucking years from now!!

Talk about your much-anticipated release!

Could be worse. The BBC’s official website once listed a release date for one of their products as the 32nd of February. They corrected it after a couple of months, though.

Steve - was it a Doctor Who thing?

She knows me so well…

I’ve found that preordering anything from Amazon is a really nice way of receiving it several weeks after the release date. Perhaps the 2010 date is a bold new way of making customers find otherwise, as they’re pleasantly surprised at receiving things in, say, 2008 instead.

Harry Potter 5 is released on the 20th of June.

Amazon : ‘Delivery Estimate: February’

WTF?

Amazon has the DVD set released of the fourth season of the Sopranos as 2010 also. Somehow not believing that’s accurate.

Am I the only one that had in their mind images of a big hairy buff chick that kept blowing tucker off for a date?

Or is it just my sleep deprivation?

Yup, BioHazard. Actually, I thought it might be about me, since I’m 5’11" and pretty indecisive about guys.

I should be so lucky!
