Pie, please

Hurry, can I mix pumpkin pie filling with baked sweet potatoes in my pies? Seems like the seasonings are the same. Anybody know?

Lots of “pumpkin” pies are actually sweet potato. If pumpkin works, and sweet potato works, I can’t imagine why a mix of the two wouldn’t.

Oh, good, I am gonna do it.

Just saw this, so my vote is late, but I’ll second that “it should work”. Please report back.

Not only should it work, it would probably sweeten up the pumpkin while lightening the texture of the filling. I’ll have to try it some time.

Well, they look really good. I am gonna try a sliver when they cool off. Whatever they are is what they are gonna be, cause I ain’t cooking no more stinkin’ food, I am done!!!

NO! STOP! DON’T. . . aw, shit.

It is very good, If I say so myself. (I will hide this pie for myself, heh!).

Cooks Illustrated suggested mixing canned pumpkin with canned yams. They flavors and textures are very complimentary. You’re going to make a much better pie than either alone.

I always take the advice of Cooks Illustrated, even 'tho I realize it doesn’t have to be gospel. Some people don’t care for some of their suggestions – that’s opinion, and its fine. Unless you’re also a food scientist, or rigorously test all permutations of the recipe, its easier to just follow their suggestions.

Well all the pie was eaten. Not a morsel left of 3 pies. Shhh! I have one hidden! Don’t tell any one. But it was good.

According Board Rules (Section 3.12, paragraph 7) one cannot bake a pie without sharing with everybody logged in at the moment.

…in New Zealand pies tend to be a savoury affair. We call the sweet potato “kumara”. And when we make a pie with kumara, it would be something like this, with yummy savoury mince.

My Mother used to make mince pies.
I will be cutting said pie about mid-night. Anyone who wants some, get here early. I will share.

Oh my, that looks scrumptious. I thank you for enlightening me with a new word and a new dish. “Kuamara” kind of rolls off the tongue.

I tried to get there but this weather is too harsh. If you send me a slice my way all is forgiven.

I will think of you as I munch. If any is left I will send it on.

ETA: misspelling, sorry.

Wait, it is not midnight yet. I guess you could not wait.
