Years ago at the Los Angeles Film Expo (I think the year Das Boot and Knight Riders were released – I saw them there) there was a short film that was played before the feature. A promoter was promoting Elvis Presley concerts – after Presley had died. One scene I remember is a dead Elvis, propped up on a stage. After some silence, a couple of pyrotechnics went off to either side. Well, this concert tour didn’t go over very well, so the promoter started selling pieces of Elvis’s body (on a cardboard flat/bubble pack). It was called ‘Piece of Elvis’. When told by a reporter that the product was limited, the promoter said that there are other singers he could promote – and plopped Jimmy Hendrix across the table.
