Pillow talk.

What’s all this about “washing” pillows? I’ve always just washed the pillowcases, just like washing the sheets that you change on the bed (obviously we don’t wash the bed). I’ve kept pillows for years, just like the bed.

So, do most people actually wash their pillows?

We wash ours occasionally, meaning once everry couple or three years. But when we do, they come out fine in the washer and dryer.

I switched to a contoured foam pillow from Bed Bath and Beyond. I think it cost about $25, which is more than I had spent for any 2 pillows previously. It has been well worth it. I’m a side sleeper and the contoured foam gives great neck and head support. I did get a nonallergenic cover to slip over the pillow, not so much for the allergy side as to keep the foam from getting sweaty/oily through a pillowcase. I don’t think the foam is washable.

Japanese buckwheat. It costs a good bit extra and there’s a maintenance cost, but there’s nothing quite like a buckwheat pillow.

My husband likes buckwheat pillows. Problem is he gets pretty sweaty, plus takes a good deal of aspirin. Thus, his pillow gets to smelling pretty unpleasant pretty fast.

Ewwwwwwwwwwww.

Exactly.

You spend a third of your life on your pillow, I think it’s worth getting a good one. I spent 60 dollars on my last one.
