Pimlico racecourse (or perhaps any racecourse as well)

When I drive Mrs. KVS to work in the morning, I see that Pimlico has flashing yellow lights on the inside rail of the track. What are they for? Is this standard equipment for all horse racing?

WAG, they are probably some sort of warning light when the horses are out for training runs. Probably warns riders that there may be another horse coming if there is poor visibility.

Or they could be used to notify practice riders that they have completed a certain distance.

I have many other WAGs.
