Woke up feeling grotty today with a bad sinus head cold, so decided not to go to work - just sleep.
Piper Cub was quite concerned by this. Before he left with Mrs Piper, he took the following steps for my safety and comfort:
Made sure I had a big book from his book shelf to read: “You’ve got to keep feeding that brain.”
Put my iPhone handy, tucked inside one of his stuffy puppets, so I could call Mrs Piper if needed.
Put one of his light sabres and a shield he made on the bed with me, in case I needed to defend myself.
And off he went, secure in the knowledge that he’d made me feel safe.
A light saber AND a shield? You done raised that kid right!
The Cub almost makes me wish I’d had kids.

This makes me remember a favorite toy of mine as a child.
(No, that isn’t my blog. Yes, that third photo is me.)
How old is Piper Cub?
My nephew is 7 and when he stayed overnight with me last October, he brought two little stuffies. At bedtime, he jammed each into one of his knit gloves, held them up and said “I put them in their pajamas.” Sooo adorable that he was making them cozy for bedtime.
