Two months ago we were in Calgary and we bought the Cub a new bed. A castle bed. With a slide.
He’s been asking ever since when it will arrive.
It came today - freight delivery to our driveway.
On a pallet. The delievery guy and I had to pull it up the driveway on his little hydraulic pallet lifter. There’s a slight incline, and he kept saying, “Don’t slow down! It’ll roll back!”
About 20 different boxes, on the pallet, which I’ve now dragged into the house.
I knew it was coming, but forgot to make him clean up his room this week, to make room for the bed.
It will be a long day of cleaning a room, then trying to do a bed assemble from badly written instructions (I’m assuming.)
For the longest time I’ve sworn that, after I retire, I plan on being a full-time Ikea furniture assembler. That or professional juror. I haven’t decided yet.
I put a used one like this together a few weeks ago… without instructions. It really wasn’t too hard, once I realized that there was only really one way that the whole thing goes together. Took about 2.5-3 hours from start to finish, including screwing all the slats into place.
Thanks. Taking a break for lunch. Have the end pieces together, and the back rails (was worried when the instructions said “definitely a two person job” for that step, but I found that the cat boxes were an adequate substitute to holding up the rails). Slats for the mattress are on.
I was right that the instructions from the manufacturer were woefully inadequate. They just said, “Open box 200 and box 300; put them together, then add box 400.” Fortunately the vendor provided more detailed supplemental instructions.
I thought I was putting it MPSIMS; where did I have it? Elections or GD? (or BBQ pit, if the instructions were as bad as I had thought.)
