Piper Cub's bed has arrived. It's going to be a long day.

Two months ago we were in Calgary and we bought the Cub a new bed. A castle bed. With a slide.

He’s been asking ever since when it will arrive.

It came today - freight delivery to our driveway.

On a pallet. The delievery guy and I had to pull it up the driveway on his little hydraulic pallet lifter. There’s a slight incline, and he kept saying, “Don’t slow down! It’ll roll back!”

About 20 different boxes, on the pallet, which I’ve now dragged into the house.

I knew it was coming, but forgot to make him clean up his room this week, to make room for the bed.

It will be a long day of cleaning a room, then trying to do a bed assemble from badly written instructions (I’m assuming.)

There will need to be beer at the end of it.

Have Piper Cub clean the room while you’re reading the assembly instructions.

And good luck!
(also, reported for possible forum change)

I think a beer might help in the middle of the job too.

Please post a pic when you’ve got it assembled. Good luck

Hey, it’s just Lego for adults!
Enjoy…

picture or must I googal?

I think this might fit better in MPSIMS. Here’s hoping the day goes by quickly and as painlessly as possible.

For the longest time I’ve sworn that, after I retire, I plan on being a full-time Ikea furniture assembler. That or professional juror. I haven’t decided yet.

I put a used one like this together a few weeks ago… without instructions. It really wasn’t too hard, once I realized that there was only really one way that the whole thing goes together. Took about 2.5-3 hours from start to finish, including screwing all the slats into place.

A castle bed? With a slide? You do realize, of course, that no one in your house (and possibly the neighborhood) will ever sleep again?

It does sound very cool, though.

How much beer does the Cub get to have?

Well, he’s at school, so that’s out.

Plus, based on previous experience, that suggestion might tip him over the line into taking jayjay up on his union drive: In which Piper Cub objects to the role of middle management.

Thanks. Taking a break for lunch. Have the end pieces together, and the back rails (was worried when the instructions said “definitely a two person job” for that step, but I found that the cat boxes were an adequate substitute to holding up the rails). Slats for the mattress are on.

I was right that the instructions from the manufacturer were woefully inadequate. They just said, “Open box 200 and box 300; put them together, then add box 400.” Fortunately the vendor provided more detailed supplemental instructions.

I thought I was putting it MPSIMS; where did I have it? Elections or GD? (or BBQ pit, if the instructions were as bad as I had thought.)

I’m having enough trouble visualising it already; I think beer would result in it looking like a castle under siege!

The beer will get me through it.

Plus Piper Cat #3 thinks he’s being very helpful, batting at the screwdriver as I was putting the slats on.

n/m\ wrong thread

Lego has better instructions!

Why would four key pieces of hardware for the bed legs be included in the hardware for the ladder?!?

It sounds as if the beer won. We haven’t heard yet that the bed is finished.

Never got to the beer. Was still working on it at 10 last night!

The bed is up, the ladder is installed, and the slide is “real cool!”, based on initial consumer feedback.

He also found that from the slide he can reach the upper door frame and hang on it before going down the slide.

He did this once or twice, then looked at us with a wicked grin and said “do I scare you guys?”

We assured him that he did in fact terrify us with some of the things he did, which seemed to increase his enjoyment all the more.

All told, a worthwhile day.

The Cub is, of course, now sleeping the sleep of the just, while I woke up with a sore back and am moving on to the dresser that came with the bed.

So, where is the pic?
