I’m scanning through the FM dial in my newly adopted city. Tonight, I came across three pirate radio stations, all of which were playing rap and hip hop. How’d I know they were pirate stations? Well, the sound quality was awful, the deejays sounded like those found on college stations, only their level of cussing would make a Soprano blush, and tere was no station ID.
My question – why are there so many pirate radio stations in Orlando? (I never heard FM pirates in Denver, Buffalo or really anyplace else.) Why hip hop? Why not … oh, an all Grateful Dead pirate, or a pirate blasting techno?
