Pirate Latitudes foreshadowing

I was reading Michael Crichton’s 1988 book Travels. I ran across this on his chapter on Jamaica:

“For many years I had been working on a book about seventeenth-century Jamaica, and now I wanted to visit this museum.”

The book he was referring to was surely Pirate Latitudes, which was just published late last year after his death.

Anyway, just thought this was interesting. I was shocked to stumble upon this.

I’m not surprised. The publisher kept touting it as the last book Crichton wrote before he died, but when questioned they admitted they had no idea when it was written.
