Ah, post-micturition convulsion syndrome! I’ve always assumed that it’s due to the body losing some heat when the warm urine leaves the body. But I guess no one really knows for sure. And it’s true it only occurs (for me) if you pee while standing. So that’s kind of curious.
I’m a girl and I get piss shivers. Usually when I have been holding my bladder for a long time.
<Smart ass mode> Really? Was your bladder soft and wet? How did you get it back in? Hell, how did you get it out? <Undo smart ass mode>
It mostly involves the upper body, including the arms, shoulder and head, and the upper arms momentarily tighten up, getting closer to the body. And it seems to be some kind of reflex, similar to a spasm. In fact I can mimic it fairly accurately, sitting here in front of the computer. Nothing to do with loss of heat.
Maybe she reached in.
you can throw the heat-loss theory out the window, at least for me, because I often get piss-shiver before I actually start to pee. I got one just yesterday sitting at the computer and realized I really needed to go, so I got up and went. It’s the same exact feeling as when it actually happens during urination. Do none of you ever get pre-emptive piss-shivers?
I get em all the time. Sitting and standing while peeing. And like panache45, I just replicated it in front of the computer. And it feels kind of nice…
Tighten my neck muscles and I can start to feel the shivers just under my chin. Tighten my shoulders and pecs and I can feel it move through my chest. Tuck my biceos in tight to my torso and feel it in my upper arms. Finally shake it thru my sternum and into my diaphram, where is stops. takes about 3 seconds total.
Try it
The zombies are back, and they have to go real bad. Hell, they’ve been holding it in for 18 years.
They then held it in for four years, and then they struck the stone that brought forth water. Some mods enter into the sport.
Doesn’t it just shake out the piss?

Uniaxial mechanical behavior of the human female bladder
Martins, PA, et al.
Int Urogynecol J. 2011 Aug;22(8):991-5. Epub 2011 Apr 2.
The bladder tissue stiffness ranged from 1 to 4.1 MPa (mean stiffness, 1.9 ± 0.2 MPa) and the maximum stress ranged from 0.5 to 2.6 MPa (mean maximum stress, 0.9 ± 0.1 MPa). There was a strong positive correlation between stiffness and maximum stress in the bladder tissue (ρ = 0.829, p < 0.001). … In addition, body mass index and menopausal status were not associated with these biomechanical properties.
[Remember this when you’re calculating the time left before you piss your pants waiting on line.]
Simple calculations and rationale for human bladder and urine physical control and voiding are in a two-column passage here.
Plus they can be applied to living people.
William Shakespeare.
Joe Cocker. [Zing! A twofer! Actually, probably goes to 11.]
Thank you Cub Mistress. Me too.
Except that it’s the wrong part of the body. Well, for most people. What part of your body do you piss through?
Sheesh, if you watch your babies closely, you can tell when it’s time to change a diaper! My kids (one of each) both did the piss shiver after wetting their pants.

i have had them all my life from time to time. but latley they have been more intense and more often. for the last 6 months or so i have had problems with kidney stones. i started noticing the stones about same time as the piss shivers got more intense. so my theory is they are caused by an irritant in they urinary tract
Bingo! That’s the third ‘time’ I experience it, so I too am going with stimulation/irritation of the nerves in the urethra.

I’ve had them all my life, and didn’t know it had a name, technical or not.
(Female speaking)
Ditto. Don’t know how old Mahaloth is, but I’m in my 60s.
Obviously you’ve never had a bladder prolapse from childbirth. Consider yourself very, very lucky.
But thanks for the smile, even I enjoyed it.
BTW, is there a urologist Doper out there, or a Doper who could ask one? Seems like they should know. Or a really smart medical student who likes to show off?
