I recall the dogs searching the World Trade Center working until their paws bled.
My first reaction is that somebody needs to do something about the old man, not the dog.
Yeah, the OP’s thread title seems to make a point that it was a pit bull mix. I’m not sure why. The dog’s breed had nothing to do with it’s actions. The article and video don’t seem to make a big deal of her breed other than to mention it. Still, this dog looks like she could be called lab mix, boxer mix or a mix of several other types of dogs. Maybe when the owner was asked what kind of dog it was, he said, pit bull mix and that’s why they went with it.
Not sure why the old man thought he would be sent to the “pen” if he called the police about a body part his dog found. That seems illogical. I’m glad his daughter had the sense to call. In the end, it seems good that the dog found, and brought home, the leg. How much longer would that dead person have been missing if not for Liberty finding him/her?
Their jaw muscles are larger and stronger than your average retriever type. A human leg is pretty heavy.
Seems like common courtesy to me - after the dog humped the leg he took it home to meet the familiy.
