Pit thread for Martin_Hyde {He has been BANNED}

Mate, I’m sorry you’ve got some issues you need to work through, but whatever you’ve got going on there is nothing to do with me and I respectfully suggest you take a break, go for a walk, have a hot beverage of your choice, and generally chill out a bit.

The max in Germany is 3 (as of late you can have a bigger magazine as long as you never load more than 3 rounds)

Except the Germans?

Provably false.

They make guns that hold more than three rounds. You can buy them here. The Mauser M18 is a very popular rifle and it holds five rounds. There’s also more than one country in Europe, and a number of them make guns (including the Czech Republic and Turkey).

It’s been a while since I looked up the German hunting laws but even if they say three rounds max (although the mag can hold more) they’re still in the minority.

Also, with vanishingly few exceptions, innocent bystanders don’t get hurt or killed by players on the field. If players regularly launched themselves into the stands and attacked spectators, I (and I imagine most people) would certainly be for more restrictions on football.

This would be considered a sane response.

An insane response would be to claim it’s a few outlier players with mental health issues only to cut health benefits for players and tell spectators they’re on their own for personal safety from rampaging footballers.

Dang. That was intense.

There’s an argument for the whole “Football encourages toxic masculinity” thing, which connects into wider issues with violence and toxic/anti-social behaviour. Ditto video gaming. The players might not directly be attacking the spectators, but there’s argument the culture around the game(s) is still causing harm to innocent people.

Also there’s more than one type of football, but the point remains the same.

Welp, there we go. Video games and modern society. Already busted tropes, which exist in other countries but somehow don’t see remotely the same level of spree killings we see in the US.

I’m out. There’s a debate on where a reasonable line can be drawn but when somebody points at FPS games, that’s a pretty good sign they’re not engaging in good faith or are too fucking stupid to get it. I have no interest in playing chess with pigeons.

Didn’t answer the fucking question. Answer the fucking question, do you need 10 rounds at the ready to take down a deer? Like I said, I Don’t Give A Fuck what is “standard” because letting people like you decide what is standard has brought us to a world where little kids get gunned down by the dozen. “Standard” is what we have right now, and it sucks.

I want to let hunters have the tools they need to hunt, tell us what they need without being an embarrassment to the idea of competent hunting.

Now you’re just making things up. I assumed, since you’re here complaining that people don’t know anything about guns, you’re some kind of expert. But the more I look into it, the more I find out that you’re full of shit. In France you can only hunt with a category C weapon which is limited to 3 rounds.

By the way the change to allow guns that load more than 3 bullets was recent in Germany, until the law change you couldn’t use guns that allow more than 3 bullets.

I hate when people who know nothing about gun control opine about it.

And there are fans of football (and boxing) who reject the idea of improved safety for players because it’ll hurt the integrity of the game. And, yes, that makes them complicit in the injuries that these young men sustain when they go through these meat grinders.

Ah, video games. The real reason for the Uvalde shooting. My mouse would catch on fire before I could click the  button enough.

I mainly see that ‘argument’ floated by people who are deflecting from more obvious problems.

5-10 rounds, especially in an environment where there’s more than one deer or game animal to shoot at. Do you hunt, or do you just like to swear at people for having different views?

You’re telling me that you can shoot and miss 4 times at deer and they’ll still be standing around for you to shoot at them 6 more times?

You’re a fucking liar and a shitty hunter who shouldn’t be allowed near guns.

Not to mention ignorant about guns and gun laws, despite his claims of superiority

I’m telling you the last time I went hunting I came across four goats together and having five rounds in the magazine meant me, my family and friends enjoyed goat dishes for quite some time after that.

Since you don’t hunt and can’t have a civil conversation, I don’t give a flying fuck what you think is an appropriate or necessary magazine capacity for hunting. You’re arguing in bad faith and just looking for an excuse to be unpleasant.

I’ve been on the boards 15 years. My firearms knowledge is well established. I may have been misinformed about the laws of Germany and France when it comes to hunting magazine capacities but that doesn’t change the fact hunting rifles, including the ones made in Germany, generally come with a five-round magazine as standard (some have four, and larger, magnum calibres sometimes have three) and lever-action centrefire hunting rifles generally have between four-seven rounds; some go up to 10 if they’re in a pistol calibre.

A selection of your quotes from the thread, presented without comment because they really speak for themselves. All emphasis mine.

Do you need me to look up other countries?

Poland:

In the Czech Republic, you can hunt with category C weapons, which include:

What falls in B category?

The restriction to around 2 to 3 shots seems pretty standard across Europe.

How do they protect their families when a herd of wild boars run through the yard while the children are out playing?

BTW, that is satire, but I’ve seen that argument.
