I don’t think you’re trolling, not exactly, but your smug twenty-something assholism pisses me off.
Some of us remember when it was dangerous to be homosexual, when you could be arrested and lose your job and your family, and there were people running around actively trying to “catch” you. It was very real and very serious and it wasn’t that long ago. It wasn’t as much fun as you seem think it was.
We remember when black people were viciously beaten and sometimes murdered with clubs and guns and fire and ropes for trying to go to school or to the polling place, along with some of the good white people that tried to help them. It was very real and very serious.
We remember when banks wouldn’t issue credit to women and when job discrimination was legal. We remember when your mother or sister’ boss could fire her for not having sex with him, and there was nothing she could do about it. And if she got pregnant out of wedlock she would lose her job and any prospects for marriage and she could sometimes be driven out of desperation to cram a coat hanger into her cervix.
We remember a time when if your twelve year old daughter ran away with an adult man, and was brutally raped daily for several months, the police wouldn’t do anything because she went with him voluntarily ( this one happened to my family, the twelve year old girl was my sister)
We remember when young men, our friends and brothers, were shipped off against their wills en masse, to fight and die in a foreign war.
All these things were very real and very serious, and they didn’t happen that damn long ago.
This is why it pisses me off when you and your whiny privileged conservative buddies start ballyhooing about how those days were the pinnacle of American civilization, and how we should all go back there.
It pisses me me off when I have to listen to whiny overgrown conservative children , who are fully protected against discrimination, who have an unprecedented degree of privacy and sexual freedom, who will never have their government force them to fight and die in a foreign war, act like having to wear a thin piece of cloth over their face, or having to get a shot that might give them the sniffles for a day in order to collectively save thousands of lives is some egregious and unprecedented assault on their “freedoms”. Or when they whine about being “silenced” because they can’t act like assholes on private property.
And it pisses me off when coddled over privileged asshats like yourself, who have never had to overcome anything that remotely resembles injustice, get all self-righteous about how easy your life is and proceed to disparage and dismiss the challenges faced by all those who came before you, and everyone who isn’t as white and as male as you, which is what you do you start your in with your pseudo intellectual equivocations about how black people getting beaten with clubs and set on fire and murdered by the Klu Klux Klan was no big deal, and how if a black person finds it threatening when someone deliberately evokes that time, she’s an emotionally unstable snowflake . A snowflake that’s supposed to be extra resilient and take it without complaining because she’s black.
You’re not stupid, but you’re completely untempered by life experience, and you’ve made a choice to poison your brain with shitty philosophy and shitty idols and shitty ideas. You’ve made a deliberate choice to be fully resistant to the idea of being a decent human being. I hope you’ll come around, but for now….go fuck yourself in your coddled white baby ass.
