In practice though, trolling people in the pit is normal. Random recipes or thumbs up pictures, etc that wouldn’t fly in GD. Not my style, but I’m not complaining (I’m still here, aren’t I?)

Yes, his “brother” Lore always has the emotion chip and Data got it at one point. If only that were an option. Maybe we just need a firmware update for Max. Has anyone rebooted him lately?
(I kid but Max does legitimately have problems processing things most people find intuitive, and I’ve know people in real life like that. It is very frustrating while I still have some sympathy for him. And to be fair, he has admitted to some struggles in that area, and I usually try to cut him some slack, though I will other times berate him.)

Well, I did say that your attempt of claiming that your Senators were not using woke in bigoted and stupid ways was stupid. That you get it or not is not my problem, I only posted about the bigoted and antiscientific ways that the right-wing is using “woke” just to inform others.
If you ever get it, it would be ok, but it is not the main reason why I post. That you are a willful ignorant, that is clear. And I did post before that bigotry is a form or willful ignorance.
Honestly that Woke thread was Trolling bait from the start. I don’t think Max was the issue or at least far from the only issue. He was just on the wrong side of the issue. Several posters on the “woke” side were just as wordy and over the top. Also at some point there seemed to be some “not woke enough crap” going on. Basically GD at its worse.

I also didn’t claim otherwise. I was arguing that the word ‘woke’ itself is not a slur on Black people. Use of the word does not communicate that the user is a bigot. It’s used by too many people in too many contexts to be a secret code word like that. I think criminals, at least convicted ones in this country are disproportionately Black. I’m sure some racists say ‘criminal’ while meaning, wink wink nudge nudge, ‘n*****’. But generally it’s not safe to assume that kind of subtext.
My Senators use ‘liberal’ in bigoted and stupid ways. That doesn’t mean liberal, used as a pejorative, makes the speaker bigoted. The bigotry doesn’t come from the words liberal or woke. Neither comes close to a dog whistle like ‘international banks’ or the six pointed star.

That is what happens when the right wing side applies everything and the kitchen sink to the definitions about what woke is, and then we get the deluded guys like Max that do think that a word is incapable of changing definitions or having more meanings added to it. His last post shows that indeed, he is still doing the stupid thing of assuming that the bad meanings of woke that the right wing is using are not an issue.
He must believe that when a lot of people in the 80s declared that “Bad” meant “cool” or “great”, that then that definition will remain the only valid one for now on. Maybe then is why he does think that when one right-winger declares that there are just a few bad apples in police departments, that then therefore Max believes that those bad apples are good and great…

Seriously, I don’t see that at all. B basically trolled the board with his persona. The “gay hating gay guy”. The “I remember this fact and so I won’t give an inch on a stupid thing I wrote” and many other hits like those.
Even link to a for-profit scam site as if it was a reputable charity. Then bring the same awful thing up again in an ATMB thread asking why his thread was closed.

I would never accuse that persona as be smart, in fact it was pretty dim. Max_S is actually pretty smart, even if his views are dated and distasteful quite often. Max might be more like Shodan.
Except for their habit of annoying sign offs, I don’t see that at all. Shodan was an aged good ol’ boy with antiquated social values, but not socially inept, he could be really funny sometimes, while Max_S is so literal and pedantic that he wouldn’t know how to make a joke if his life depended on it. He’s also likely much younger and obviously very inexperienced with social interactions outside the internet, at least that’s my guess.
Fair enough, but really nothing like Jim_B either. I should have left it there.
