Heh. That reminded me of a news item from the Bloody Sunday enquiry (14 unarmed citizens shot dead by the army in Derry in 1972; the inquiry was focusing on whether the IRA had been present there that day and had fired shots). Martin McGuinness, the deputy leader of Sinn Fein, was the Education Minister at the time of the enquiry, and had to give evidence about whether he had been in the IRA and whether shots had been fired. ‘The Education Minister denied firing rounds at the police and army’ was how the news put it. I rolled my eyes and thought, Only in N Ireland…
Sure sounded like it, actually. Right in your OP you said:
That definitely sounds as though it’s partly her choice of who to vote for that’s pissing you off, and not just the fact that she declined to stay home from the polls with you in order to be more eco-friendly.
I can see where your coming from. I empolyed a little hyperbole there before going on to the main issue of vote cancellation.
And to wrap things up, the intensity of my pitting from my point of view was intended to be rather mild bordering on frivolous. Everyone around here seems to be so damn serious. And btw, my wife told me afterward that she did vote for my candidate (who won handily) and only told me she would vote NDP because I had the temerity to ask who she’d vote for.
