A bounty for what purpose?
“I’ll give $500 to anyone that can get me Zimmerman’s real address.” Probably legal.
“I’ll give $500 to anyone that brings me the severed head of George Zimmerman.” Definitely illegal.

Ever-vigilant in the fight for [del]publicity[/del] justice Roseanne Barr retweets to her followers the (correct) address of Zimmerman’s parents. Hey, they sired him, didn’t they? As she put it, it’s good to know no one can hide any more. Certainly Ms Barr couldn’t hide the evidence of her asshattery when, not getting quite the reaction she’d hoped for, she quickly deleted the tweet and solemnly informed her followers that vigilantism was always wrong.
What a fucking circus this affair has become!
Bravo.
This makes me glad I didn’t live through the late 60s/early 70s. This is my first “Devo was prophetic” moment.
He did *the right thing. *
Did she post the address on Retreat View? As far as I know that was a rental townhome the Zimmermans already moved out of. If something happens to it, maybe the landlord can sue her. If it isn’t the house on Retreat View, I don’t want to know the address.
But did it make it mo better?
Can I pre-Pit those that will justify their own vigilante style actions in response to this? I can just see the next time something tangentially similar happens and someone posts a home address and offers a bounty for their arrest.
David Duke funds a bounty and broadcasts the home address of a yet-to-be-arrested black suspect. Someone accuses him of trying to whip up a lynch mob, and he responds:
“Why is bad for me to do it? Did you complain when the Black Panthers put out a boundy $10k? Did you yell at Spike Lee? Did you boycott Rosanna?”
So, in advance, I pre-Pit anyone who MAKES that argument, and the current idiots who enabled it.
Oh, FFS. Is there no end to the idiots?
Just wondering if Spike Lee makes his own address public? :dubious:
I suppose you can…so what would the key difference be? Hundreds of years of racial injustice?
Can I pre-pit the idiots who use that as an excuse for their behaviour?
Anyone saying that is using a strawman and the answer to that argument is yes, I did complain about those things, as did many other people of all races.
Also, to correct one thing. The Black Panthers have not put out a bounty. It was the “New Black Panther Party” that put out the bounty. Members of the original “Black Panther Party” have denounced them.
It’s actually why in lotsa places in Europe, media agree not to publish even the last names of suspected criminals (especially since if their still suspects, they ought to be considered innocent until proven otherwise). If this had happened in The Netherlands, people would only know Zimmerman as George Z.
Also, I believe the New Black Panthers are like seven guys in North Philadelphia. If they haven’t put up a bond, I would doubt they had $500.
Are they the same group that was not intimidating voters by waving billy clubs in font of a polling place?
