Pitting the bigots I see in my Facebook news feed

That’s kinda douchey of you, Oakminster. I wasn’t offended by your telling me to go shove broken glass up my cunt, even if it is technically against Pit rules, because it’s in the spirit of intemperate invective that the Pit is largely designed for. But trying to weasel out of a moderator scolding by smarmily pretending that such invective isn’t “wishing harm” but merely a “suggestion” that “could have unfortunate consequences”? :dubious: Asshole.

I’m related to some pretty messed-up right-wingers. I have an aunt who’s become some kind of bigot against Muslims and/or brown people. My own mother despises the Democrats as, in her eyes, baby-killing socialists.

Myself, I went deep enough into the conservative movement as a youth to get disgusted and eventually leave. I have thought it was a matter of me getting a better look at what the party was actually about.

But I am a bit puzzled at how my mother & her sister think now. They’re so hateful. I guess I was too, when I was a teenager. I just was also screaming in fury a lot, at what the “conservatives” around me thought was normal. The “conservative movement” is a corrupt machine that encourages both nihilism and cult-like attitudes. It really did help me to get out & see then from the outside; I don’t have so much hatred “of America” as I used to have.

This is not true. This did not happen. The only Republican who voted for the PPACA was in the House.

You’re wrong, and too stupid to realize it.

 A feeble generic “have-you-stopped-beating-your-wife-yet”-type response (“see, if you don’t admit you were wrong, then that proves you’re stupid, ha ha!”) that doesn’t actually refute anything I said.

Two of 'em recently made it clear that their notion of what Liberals think is from a source like Fox News rather than actual Liberals. I’m no longer following them.
