I know several true conservatives, some of whom I call friends, and none of them have ever expressed any interest in torturing or murdering anyone (other than child molesters and the occasional DMV employee). Nor have any of them ever expressed, either overtly or via their actions, a “rabid hatred for the majority of humanity.” They do seem to have a uniform desire for law and order, fiscal responsibility, and tend to favor the status quo vs. change.
“Law and order” means “persecute anyone who isn’t a rich white Christian male”. “Fiscal responsibility” means “give money to the rich and loot everyone else”. And the name for people who prefer the status quo is “liberal”, conservatives want radical change (for the worse).
We have different definitions; I don’t personally know anyone who subscribes to yours.
This is clearly bullshit when you won’t specifically name those issues because you know you will get your ass handed to you if you do. “Keep it vague and bitch a lot” seems to be the rule for the whiners, it seems.
I consider myself to be middle, of the left end of the spectrum.
I often see posters to the left of me, never mind conservatives, get crucified on this board.
So I mostly give political post a wide hearth.
And it appears to me this pitting, is mainly to ensure this sort of self policing stays firmly in place.
In regards to politics, this board is the best insulated echo chamber I have ever encountered.

Well, bully for you, that was just one poster that noted also why is that other boards, and specially the right wing ones, are an echo chamber. Her point was that: that the usual banning for posting evidence or opinions in those boards is not really taking place on this one. YMMV. But I do encounter many (former?) conservatives in the SDMB that look at the evidence and are convinced of how unhinged the current Republican leadeship and many rich people are nowadays.
Call me crazy, but I don’t exactly take the posts from a poster self named “Culling The Herd” as sincerely attempting to join a community.

Yes, conservatives are outnumbered here. But you still get to share your views (with the exception of your personal bug-up-your ass on the definition of gender). Echo chambers are where opposing views are not allowed, not where they are criticized. Deal with it, snowflake.
