If you find someplace in your area with Sicilian pizza on the menu, try it.
If you have a Pizza Hut nearby, they have pan pizzas. Same with Little Caesar’s. And Dominos’. Not that I necessarily recommend these, but thick crust pizzas should be available pretty much everywhere.
Those aren’t real pizzerias and whatever they serve as “thick crust pizza” is very likely not representive.
It’s a reasonable middle-of-the-road example of what thick crust is in much of America. Are there better? Of course. If you want, you can find a ma & pop place nearby, and I’m sure some of them will have thicker style crusts. I don’t know where northpolarbear is located, but if they just google their location and “sicilian pizza” or “pan pizza,” I’m sure they’ll find a bunch of local places that do one of these styles.
I’m not sure what Little Caesar’s thick offerings are outside of Detroit, but the local ones are square, focaccia-based crusts that are, for $7.00, a reasonable facsimile of the Detroit style. They’re definitely not good enough to make a special occasion out of, but they’re good enough if you’re in a hurry.
