Places you would go RIGHT NOW, if you could.

Nusa Dua beach, Bali, Indonesia.

Warm Springs Creek (off the Lochsa River), Selway-Bitteroot Wilderness area, Lolo, Idaho.

Mammoth Cave, Kentucky.

The Cafe Wha?, New York City, New York.

Anywhere there is snow and a vertical drop of at least 2,000 feet. More is better. Deeper powder preferred.

Michigan. A specific place, but I’ll keep that to myself. Suffice to say: Michigan.

Finally, to my actual damn apartment in Ohio, that one I signed for, lived in for 3 weeks and haven’t spent more than 5 nights total in the last 8 months.

Spain. I have developed a very strong desire to go to Spain.

Also, Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico. My cousin lives there and he just visited my family last week…and he invited me to come visit. (Yay!) The problem is, he’s moving in August, so I need to go soon. Playa del Carmen is about half an hour’s drive south of Cancún, only a hundred times nicer because there aren’t five zillion tourists and a thousand hideous hotels. It’s a wonderful little town in paradise. I must take advantage of having family there.

Brisbane, Australia. Because I want to be about as far as possible from where I am now.

Right this moment? Victoria, B.C…in a heartbeat.

It’s the journey rather than the destination for me; On a 30 plus footer, about 500 miles off Portugal / North Africa ish, heading south or west - i.e. one Cape or 'tother

Ontario/New York borderlands - either Niagara Falls or the Thousand Islands. I used to vacation at both places and I am in the mood for some pleasnt reminiscing.

Oh where to start: Maid of the Mist or Boldt Castle?

For the past 3 years I’ve had an intense yearning to sleep one last time in the black sand of Harry K. Brown park, in the shade of the coconut trees. Reminisce about my first kiss which I believe took place just to the right of the photo in the link given. Read a good book. Swim in the warm water, maybe snorkel a bit then sleep some more. Ahh, memories. Sadly that would require a pass back in time as disaster struck the place in 1990.

But on a more realistic tone I want to be about 3 feet behind me in my nice comfy bed. In fact, I’m going there now.

Good night

Just waking up at anchor, perhaps in the Miles River, beginning a grand and glorious day on the Chesapeake Bay. Sailing in Jacksonville, FL, leaves a lot to be desired, whereas nearly any part of the Chesapeake offers delights, relaxation, beauty… 3 more years… 3 more years… <sigh>

Tahiti, no quetion.

Sorry, Ike, but oysters are out of season here in VA right now, and besides, the oyster industry is on its last legs. DERMO and other parasitic diseases have wrecked havoc on native oysters and nearyly any that you get are going to have been flown in from Texas or Louisiana. The blue crab industry, too, is really suffering.

Aruba!!! (Dutch Caribbean) That’s where I want to be. Went there for my honeymoon and had to come back two more times because I so fell in love with that island!! sigh

Thailand.

Now please.

Alaska. I wanna go cause I like cold weather and it’s just a place I’ve always wanted to go.

I want to go back to my little grass shack in Ke-a-la-ke-kua, Hawaii.
I want to be with all the kanes and wahines that I knew long ago;
I can hear old guitars a playing on the beach at Ho-o-nau-nau—
I can hear the old Hawaiian saying, “Ko-mo-mai no ka-u-ai-ka ha-ke we-la-ka-hao.”
It won’t be long till my ship will be sailing back to Kona,
A grand old place that’s always fair to see—you’re telling me!
I’m just a little Hawaiian and I miss my island boy—
I want to go back to my fish and poi.
I want to go back to my little grass shack in Ke-a la-ke-kua, Hawaii;
Where the Hu-mu-hu-mu, Nu-ku-nu-ku a pu-a-a goes swimming by . . .

Toss up between Maine to see some friends about a lobster, and just starting my Ocean City, NJ vacation early.

I wish I was at Scarborough Beach in RI, but only now, at 9:29 a.m., before the huge hordes arrive. I’d have clam cakes for breakfast.

Or maybe I’d go sit on a certain sunny rock in Fort Ann, NY. It’s on the shore of Lake’s Pond (yup, Lake’s Pond) at a camp at which I worked one summer.

But if I can’t get those wishes, I’d settle for the gardens at Versailles.

Tibet.

And I will go there one day.

Close second is France. I miss my fam there too…

Cuzco, Peru. Majestic vistas, interesting people and a laid back pace of life.

God dammit, isn’t that just always the way?

Well, maybe I’ll take that empty barstool next to Humble Servant at the Acme in N’Awlins…

On the other hand, the gardens of Versailles don’t sound too bad right now, either. I want to be in that little side garden with the fountain that has the huge giant struggling in quicksand!

On the other other hand, perhaps I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made:
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.

I would like to go to one of those lakes that are deep in the wilds of Canada. The ones you can only reach by float plane.
