Places you would go RIGHT NOW, if you could.

Back to BED!

I would like to go to Washinton DC
where my love Montfort lives,
what a suprise.

It’s a toss up…
Lille, France, where my old roomie lives and breathes… And is getting married next summer!

Atlanta, Georgia, where my best friend/ex lives, who I haven’t seen in a month.

Actually, I think Lille is winning… I’ve seen ATL and I’ve seen the best friend. Haven’t seen the roomie in almost 3 years.

Winnipeg, to take my wife out for curry and a movie, and my daughter to see the monkey house at the zoo.

Bunny sings, “Way down south, in the land of cotton, old times there are not forgotten, look away, look away, look away, Dixie land.”

:ducks the tomatos and ignores the dogs howls:

Well, like I was saying! The South; I’ve got friends in Nashville and elsewhere that I’d love to visit and spend some time with.

Also, I love, LOVE, LOVE to travel so:

  1. Scotland/Ireland. To try and find that loch that my grandmother was born on (she was a McVickers, my grandfather was a Kennedy from Ireland - Oy, what a mix!) and trace some roots.

  2. Italy - Rome, Florence, anywhere. Just dump me off.

  3. Spain
Aw heck, Europe!. Never been yet :sigh:

  4. Korea. I had such an incredible time in Seoul when I visited, I’d love to visit again.

  5. Tahiti or one of those small Pacific Islands with 80 degree days and excellent snorkeling. :sigh: Been a long time since I’ve done any good snorkeling!

You’re not going to make me pick one, are you? Okay, down south. Visting actual people versus places. Meanies.

Oooh, no, wait—I’ve changed my mind!

I was born in Michigan, and I wish and wish again
That I was back in the town where I was born . . .
There’s a farm in Michigan, and I’d like to fish again
In the river that flows beside the fields of waving corn!
A lonesome soul am I—here’s the reason why:

I want to go back, I want to go back, I want to go back to the farm.
Far away from harm, with a milkpail on my arm.
I miss the rooster—the one that used ter’ wake me up at four a.m.
I think your great big city’s very pretty—
Nevertheless, I want to be there, I want to see there
A certain someone full of charm—
That’s why I wish again I was in Michigan, down on the farm!

Buenos Aires

I don’t know what i will find there, but that is the one place on earth that i must see. A funny kind of curiosity.

Lunch. I’d go to lunch.

Uke, I’d be honored if you’d snarf ersters with me before you run off to live with bees (Yeats was apparently inspired by Thoreau, so perhaps I’ll then adjourn to the woods to live deliberately). (I note that most of the “places” you want go are really food you want to eat.:D)

Oy, what a use of a yiddishism!

Midtown.

But the traffic is murder, and the subway stations are too hot.

Keauhou Bay, just south of Kona, on the big island. (I used to have a link I could show you, but I lost it.)

On a sailboat in the San Juans

Rio - It’s been 30 years, but the people were wonderful and the food was great.

Or maybe someplace I’ve never been, but would like to see someday:

New England

Scotland

Tahiti

Australia/New Zealand

Club Med Turkoise - Turks and Caicos Islands
Rainbow River Florida for a river dive.
Ellsworth Maine for some HUGE ocean scallops.

awwww yeahh…

I’m thinking Montgomery, AL sounds perfect right about now.

Gosh . . . Can I trade in my tickets to Hawaii and Michigan for an illegal getaway?

Not so far from here, there’s a very lively atmosphere
Everybody’s going there this year—and there’s a reason!
The season never closes there; love and music you’ll find everywhere
People always having fun down there—so come along!

I’m on my way to Cuba, that’s where I’m going
Cuba, that’s where I’ll stay—Cuba, where wine is flowing
And where dark-eyed Stellas light their fella’s Panatellas

Cuba, where it’s all happy; Cuba, where all is gay!
Why don’t you plan a wonderful trip to Havana?
Hop on a ship and I’ll see you in C-U-B-A!

Lizard Island, off the coast of Queensland, Australia.
The sand is beautiful and white, the fringing reefs are teeming with fantastic fish, and the water is the most amazing turquoise. Better yet, the last time I was there my wife and I composed 1/3 of the island’s population, if you don’t count the lovely goannas that slither about all over.

Alternately, I’d be more than happy to spend more time exploring Kaua’i.

Bavaria sounds nice right about now. Or Alaska.

Eve has convinced me that there must be someplace better than Tahiti…how 'bout

Gary, Indiana
Gary, Indiana
Gary, Indiana
Let me say it once again

Gary, Indiana
Gary, Indiana
Gary, Indiana
That’s the place that knew me when

If you’ve got to hear a logical explanation
How I happened on this elegant synchopation
I will say without a moment’s hesitation
There is just one place that can light my face

Gary, Indiana
Gary, Indiana
Not Paris, France, New York, or Rome

But
Gary, Indiana
Gary, Indiana
Gary, Indiana
My home, sweet, home

Highway 8 along the Mexico - U.S. border. When I last drove through there the ocatillo were blooming. The landscape is alien to me, being from the Pacific Northwest. All the cactus and plants that twist and turn and corner their way from the ground and the insects that resemble a child’s radio controlled airplane. It’s so beautiful, dry, barren, full, and hostile all at once. I need to go back.

another vote for italy. But I want to bring my duc. I’ve had this insane desire to ride a motorcycle in the streets of an Italian city for the last 3 months.

Oh, you’re right, plnnr . . . Why should I leave the States when there are so many nice places right here? [music up]

I’ve had a mighty busy day, I’ve had to throw my cares away—
Now I’m gonna give that landlord back his key—that very key
That opened up my dreary flat where many weary nights I sat
Thinking of the folks down home who think of me!
You can bet that I’ll be singing happily:

When that midnight choo-choo leaves for Alabam’
I’ll be right there—I got my fare!
When I see that rusty-haired conductor man,
I’ll grab him by the collar and I’ll holler, “Alabam’! Alabam’!”
That’s where you stop the train, that brings me back again,
Down home where I’ll remain,
Where my honey-lamb
Am!
I will be right there with bells, when that old conductor yells,
“All aboard! All aboard! All aboard for Alabam’!”
