Plagiarism, Claudine Gay, a Zionists' wife, and Business Insider's German owner

Business Insider published a story about Bill Ackman’s wife, Neri Oxman, plagiarizing Wikipedia articles along with other texts, as a comparison with ousted Harvard President Claudine Gay’s plagiarism and Ackman’s push to remove her. Ackman went on the defensive and compelled BI’s German owner, Axel Springer, to review BI’s story, particularly “the motivation and the process leading up to the reporting.” Axel Springer has prompted his German employees to sign a mission statement affirming Israel’s right to exist, which itself is a negation of intellectual freedom. Germany’s infamous legacy in regard to its Jewish genocide in the early 20th Century impels many Germans to treat Jewish issues with kid gloves, obviating critical treatment of these issues. It will be interesting to see how this story develops.

What is interesting about this? An idiot billionaire is too online and his wife is called out for old plagiarism, and he gets upset. Why should anyone care?

I didn’t read the linked articles, but I suspect we’re supposed to care because a Zionist is involved.

I think the Business Insider article was pointing out hypocrisy by Ackman in criticizing Harvard’s president, Claudine Gay, for plagiarism (among other things) and pushing her to resign.

Don’t we already have this thread?

I don’t know if there’s another thread, but I think that a business that makes its employees sign a loyalty oath to another country is a valid topic for discussion. Personally I find it chilling.

Interesting, but I don’t see what that has to do with the topic of discussions. Even the disjointed OP doesn’t make the claim that a business made its employees sign a “loyalty oath” to another country.

The WaPo article is paywalled, but the OP makes it clear that a Jewish person somewhere is rich and influential. And also that ze Germans aren’t critical enough of “Jewish issues.” Why aren’t you more upset? Why haven’t you been upset this whole time? What are you, a Zionist?

Why, yes. Yes I am.

Oh, how horrible!

Thank God I was near my fainting chaise when I read this.

I apologize for my continued existence and any offense it may cause.

Checks notes

Wait, no, no I don’t.

Plagiarism, Claudine Gay, a Zionists’ wife, and Business Insider’s German owner

Even if the plot throws in zombies with straight As and an invasion by extraterrestrials, I’m not going to see that movie.

How about a cook and a thief?

The idiot billionaire is Bill Ackman. He was the principle pusher to remove Claudine Gay as president of Harvard University because of her testimony that rubbed him the wrong way to a Congressional panel in regard to the 10/7 Hamas attack. He then lead the effort to uncover plagiarism committed by Gay in some of her scholarly work, all of which lead her to resign from her presidency. His wife is also culpable of plagiarism as Business Insider reported, this incensed Ackman who then went to BI’s owner, Axel Springer, with complaints of unethical journalism and threatened to bankrupt and liquidate the publication. Axel Springer has made his German employees sign a mission statement affirming Israel’s right to exist, which curtails discussion of this assertion by these employees. It will be interesting to see, one, how Springer deals with his American employees who he has not prompted to sign the aforementioned mission statement, and two, what measures Ackman will take to bankrupt and liquidate the publication.

Again, why is this interesting? Who cares? What is the relevance to the forum “politics and elections”?

Seems to me that it’s possible to believe in Israel’s right to exist, and that Bill Ackman is a hypocrite.

I can answer the second, it is not a Politics & Elections thread.

So off to IMHO I guess.

FTR, very poorly written OP, I considered closing it.

Here’s a gift link.

It’s interesting because of the issues involved. That you in particular may not find this interesting is another matter. Many people care. This is political because the issues involve nations, politicians, and politics.

Exactly. This is why it is interesting as to how Springer will handle this hot potato.
