Plane crash in Poulsbo, WA

A 1946 Ercoupe crashed in Poulsbo, WA yesterday afternoon.

The 70-year-old pilot called 9-1-1 after he regained consciousness, and he was sitting upright and was answering questions when they took him to the ambulance.

I always liked Ercoupes. They’re slow and don’t carry much, but they’re neat-looking. I think it would be neat to polish one up and paint early-/pre-war AAF markings on it, put ‘B-12½’ on the nomenclature (because it reminds me of half of a B-25 if I squint), and name the slow little bugger ‘Putt-Putt Maru’. (That was the name on the nose of an actual P-38 Lightning during WWII – which the Ercoupe also resembles.) Of course that will never happen, since if I ever do get an airplane it will be something more practical.

Sad that a classic airplane was destroyed. Good that the pilot survived. Not a great place for an emergency landing.

I hope he makes it.
Too bad about the plane. I always like their look too.Flying with the side window open is fun …

A really sucky place to have engine trouble.

I hope he makes it.

Oh… that’s sad. :frowning: I was in Poulsbo a couple of months ago with friends. We went to… um… well, SOME might call it the festival of ultimate evil. Others say it’s just a Lutheran church lutefisk supper and fundraiser.

Odd looking aircraft. The canopy made me think of a Navion. The triangular shaped fuselage and twin rudders made me blink.

Here’s one that’s not crashed.
