Hi, I have a 60 inch plasma tv and I just fell asleep for aprox 2hs and 45min and now the tv has burn in, never had a problem like this. It’s a white screen with a blue print that says this program has ended, you can see it clearly. Is there a way to get rid of it? I can’t seem to find my owners manual it’s late i’ll have to check tomorrow to see if I can find it
I think most plasma sets have ‘anti image retention’ settings, or some such in the menu. My Panasonic ST30 has a setting that scrolls a white bar across a black screen for 15 minutes to help reduce/prevent burn-in. Usually such images go away after a short time, the longer the static image, the longer it takes to get rid of. I had severe burn-in on my set from playing too much Skyrim on my Xbox, but it’s slowly disappearing (I can still just barely see the level progress indicator after removing the Xbox several months ago).
I’m looking at the image now, it’s a white screen and blue lettering, should I do the white wash feature on my tv?
At this stage it’s not burn-in, as that’s permanent. It’s transient image persistence, which can be fixed using the handydandy feature to cope with it in your settings, or just watching regular TV for a few hours.
Yeah, I’d leave the TV running on a channel while you’re at work today. It should clear up by within a few hours. Good luck, and let us know how it goes, jake.
Hey update, I did the white wash feature on the tv, left it on this for 20min then I switched to regular tv channel and left it on for about 30 min then I turned the tv off and back on and it was completely gone.
