Playboy Ex CEO Christie Hefner Insider Trading

Since Playboy is a magazine then I guess Cafe Society is cool?

I scanned this article quickly but it sounds like Christie is ok. The couple kept separate brokerage accounts throughout their marriage. That and Christie’s testimony probably saved her butt from the SEC. Those bureaucrats are out for blood and come down ruthlessly on any hint of insider trading, i.e. Martha Stewart. I’d imagine hubby has a long prison sentence ahead.

It does answer a question that has nagged me. Why the heck Chrisitie stepped down as CEO of Playboy a few years ago. It never made sense because Hef’s son is still too young to take over. Now we now the rest of the story. :stuck_out_tongue: As Paul Harvey loved to say.

I recall Hef in the early days was always asked whether he’d let his daughter pose in Playboy. Apparently not, because Christie never posed in the magazine (nude or semi-nude). IIRC she went to a pretty prestigious Business School?

Article.

One of his sons, Christie’s brother David, is 56.

You never hear anything about that guy though. I remember way back in the seventies or maybe very early eighties, Hef described his children’s response to his success and fame this way: “My son David saw a race he couldn’t win and therefore chose not to run. My daughter Christie went the other way and became an overachiever.” And I haven’t heard a thing about David since.

Hef’s youngest son Cooper is a pretty sharp kid though and is being groomed to take over as the public image of Playboy. He’s only 21 though and still needs Hef to step in and take over occasionally in interviews. Looks quite a bit like Hef did in the old days too. Link

Marston pleaded no contest to hitting his Playmate gf. I guess Cooper is the only kid that can eventually take over.

I recall in the mid 80’s Christie turned Playboy around by creating the Playboy channel and the dvd’s. I subscribed for awhile to the PB channel back then. Going into video production really saved the mag from going under like Penthouse did. Oddly enough, Christie killed off the dvds in 2008. A shame because Playboy was creating some good soft core content with the Playmates. I always liked the video centerfolds.

Because Hugh Hefner was the only one with a say in whether she’d pose in the magazine? And reason to believe she wanted to?
