Could you count the SF defeats again please (I know one, 2003 Wimbledon).

Roddick has reached five slam finals in his career. He won one and lost to Federer the other four times. He’s lost in the semifinals five other times, and three of them were against Federer. The others were against Schuttler in the 2003 Australian Open - that was the match after Roddick beat El Aynaoui in one of the longest matches ever, 21-19 in the fifth - and against Hewitt in the '05 Australian Open.

I think there might’ve only been one QF loss, but that’s four finals losses and three semifinal losses. More significantly, perhaps, is that almost every single time Roddick got that far in a tournament, he lost to Federer. That’s seven losses to Federer out of his 10 best major results, with one win and two other semifinal losses (one in crazy circumstances).

Anyway if Fed did not exist;then I can say easily that Andy Roddick would have dominated for some time. In real life he was World no 2 from about 2003 to 2006/7.

Nadal was #2 by some time in 2005, after he won the French Open for the first time.
