Some truth there, yes. Alone, it is a stat that can be misleading. It is, as you point out, part of the picture.

Like the win/loss record for a pitcher in baseball. It’s an interesting stat but only a piece of the picture. I’d rather have a pitcher with a 1.34 ERA and 5-12 record than one with a 5.35 ERA and a 11-4 record.
