(In IMHO because, well, I’m asking for opinions :))
On my way in to work this morning, I run across a slightly outdated billboard for an insurance company. The text of the ad is:
“FOR VALENTINE’S DAY, GIVE HER A HIGHER DEDUCTIBLE.”
Followed by the name of the insurance company, etc. Now, I’m puzzled. A higher deductible wouldn’t strike me as a very good gift. I get the feeling there’s something I’m missing, though. Or maybe the contractors were pissed at the insurance company and deliberately swapped ‘higher’ for ‘lower’?
At least its incomprehensibleness beats those dumbass “every kiss begins with k” ads they blanket across every form of media in a 45-day radius around valentine’s day. I’d be more likely to kiss a man who got me better insurance than some crappy-ass conflict-free diamond anyday…
I guess you could sit down with her insurance agent that day, go through her existing insurance and figure out what needs to be changed. You might figure out that beater she drives doesn’t need so much collision insurance so raise the deductible to $2500 or so and save her a wad of doe. Bring all the paperwork to the date and show her the savings. Chicks love that stuff because they can’t do math and money on their own so it makes you look like a superhero.
Yeah… the company logo. It’s a car insurance agency, if it matters any.
I saw it again this morning. It’s still not making sense to me. Shagnasty’s answer may be the closest… though if so, I’m surprised they’re still in business.
I’m an auto insurance agent and it doesn’t make any sense to me either so don’t feel bad It is probably something designed specifically so that it doesn’t make sense and you have to call to find out what they mean. Then when you call they get to give you their schpiel about signing up for a policy or whatever.
The guys in advertising were given a directive for a Valentines day theme ad. Now most people don’t associate Valentine’s day with car insurance. This is the best they could come up with to do the job. I think it is a really subtle penis reference.
Knock her up and she’ll have to add a pregnancy rider to her individual health insurance policy.
Oh wait, it’s a car insurance? Then what Shagnasty said. More expensive your vehicle, the more you pay to insure it. although… that would lead to a high monthly cost, but I’m not sure it’d lead to a higher deductable.
If the ad’s for a car insurance agency, I’m guessing they’re telling you to buy her a new car for Valentines day, and then she’ll have a higher deductible…and you can get your new insurance through them…maybe…I really have no idea and think it’s a stupid ad.
She would likely have a higher premium, but the deductible is independant. Could be higher, could be lower. Could stay the same.
It’s kind of lame but I don’t think it’s trying to be too clever. Higher deductible = lower premium, and also is generally better for the insurance co because they don’t have to spend resources on small incidents
