Please explain to me the Freedom of Choice Act

Nitpick: even if Democrats gain 11 seats in the Senate tomorrow, that’s not going to get a filibuster-proof majority for a bill like this. Not everybody is going to vote the party line, especially since the majority lead hisself, Mr. Reid, is pro-life.

Agreed. Deeply frightened pro-life SMDBers can inhale and exhale. We don’t have the votes. Probably not even in the freaking House.

Smart pro-choice political activists will be pushing for birth control info &/in sex ed, and (I hope) doing things to make sure all states have abortion providers available to those who want abortions.

As much as I’d like to see the Hyde Amendment thrown out to land facefirst on the DC sidewalk, I doubt it will happen. Hell, we can’t afford the $ outlay. Medicaid is massively unlikely to pay for abortions this season.

Maybe, possibly, it can be demanded that licensed medical practitioners receive the training.

Maybe, with decent probability, it can be demanded that any pharmacy receiving Medicaid/Medicare reimbursal for Rx filled must not refuse to fill prescrips for birth control or abortifacients.

There’s a tiny faint flicker of a chance that someone in Health with pro-choice background will actually take some ^T$#@!#$$# initiative and seize this opportunity to hammer out some deals with pro-life politicians on stuff we can agree on; get a cease-fire on Roe in order to reduce unintentional pregnancy rates and thereby abortion rates. But I would not hold my breath on that one.
