please god help me assignment

I don’t know if it is because it isn’t clear or I’m going nuts. or i’m going nuts because it isn’t clear but here goes

The question:

The numbers

Canada’s Chinas and Indias figures respectivly

population (millions, 2000)

31, 1262, 1014

Total CO2 emissions (millions kg)

423739, 3443998, 10764700

I don’t know if this bit is important

Per Capita energy consumption (kg oil equivalent)

7864, 883, 477

Per capita CO[sub]2[/sub] emission is total emission divided by population. You’ve got the current population and emissions, you’ve got the projected population increase (in percent), and you’ve been told that the per capita emission will be 50% of Canada’s (2025 emission divided by 2025 population). So you can take the resulting per capita emissions, multiply by the 2025 populations, and compare those total emissions to the total emissions given in the problem.

The per-capita energy consumption is not mentioned in the question, so is not needed. The question asks what China’s and India’s total CO[sub]2[/sub] output in 2025 would be if their per-capita CO[sub]2[/sub] output were half that of Canada’s and their population growth be that predicted by the UN.

So, first figure out what Canada’s per-capita CO[sub]2[/sub] output is. Then figure out what China’s and India’s populations will be in 2025, based upon the UN’s numbers. Then, multiply that per-capita CO[sub]2[/sub] output by 1/2, and multiply the result to the expected future population, to get a total CO[sub]2[/sub] output.

The other number that you need is the current CO[sub]2[/sub] output of China and India, which you can simply get by adding their current output together. I don’t know exactly what your teacher means by “compare”. Either list them together or show their ratio, I guess.
