Here is a picture.
We just had about 1/2" of new snow on the ground and went outside to let the dog out and I found these tracks in my driveway.
The red thing is a ball-cap to give you a perspective on size, for whatever that was worth.
The tracks are oval shape about 1.5 inches long. The two in the back are right next to each other and the two in the front are about 4" in front of the back ones and spaced about 3" apart.
The tracks are within a couple feet of my garage, which indicates in might be a cat, but they don’t look like how a cat would run.
rabbit? I don’t think a rabbit would get that close to my house. Never seen one that close anyways. And I haven’t seen a rabbit around here since summer.
Anyone got a clue?
I’m going to guess wabbit twacks!
I see rabbits around my neighbourhood from time to time, in spite of the local cats and bald eagles. No reason to think they’re not hopping about when you’re not looking.
The reason I think they might be rabbit tracks is because when I see rabbits at rest their front paws are close together. In the photo, there are pairs of paw prints close together. The tracks appear to have been made by hopping. Rabbits move by hopping. You haven’t seen rabbits around there since Summer, but you’ve seen rabbits around there. So: (apparent) front paws close together, hopping motion, rabbits have been seen in the area… I’m guessing rabbit tracks.
.
I don’t know why I didn’t goggle wabbit twacks. Brain fart. I guess, or just plain laziness.
I’d say wascally wabbit as well.
This bunny moves both of his hind legs together when he hops so he must have been pausing? If moving more rapidly the hind legs will be staggered.
Perhaps hunger is bringing him closer to humans than usual.
Definitely looks like rabbit to me. The rabbits at my parent’s house will gladly hop up onto their low deck and nibble on the potted flowers even during daylight hours. They probably aren’t as afraid to approach your house under the cover of darkness as you think.
Couldn’t be anything other than rabbit.
