Please help me search for something

I’m pretty sure I read it on the SDMB, but my searches aren’t finding it.

It’s a clever English term for when you are walking towards somebody head on, and they step one way to go around you at the same time as you step that way, and then vice versa, sometimes multiple times.

I’m looking for one word that describes this common occurrence.

Thanks!

In that situation, people sometimes say “Thanks for the dance,” or something else to that extent.

I don’t know a specific term. Everybody I know just smiles and asks, “Do you wanna dance?”

It was definitely a one- or two-word term. I’m not sure if it was coined by somebody here or they had heard it somewhere else. It was the kind of thing where, if it caught on, everybody would just use that term instead of having to describe the situation in one or more sentences (like I did above).

The Sidewalk Shuffle
The Walkway Waltz
The Pavement Pavane
The Hallway Hustle

I once heard “awk-stepping” somewhere.

There’s a Snigletfor that: Shuggleftulation

Are you thinking of this Staff Report?:

That’s it! My problem was that I was searching the boards. :smack:

Thanks everybody!

Just remember when you don’t know what to say. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
