Regardless if they were “right” or “wrong” the truth (really) is that we haven’t been studying the weather long enough to have any idea what normal weather is. Maybe the earth’s temperature is on an upswing, maybe not. Maybe it’s caused by humans, maybe not. Certainly large scale geologic events- Volcanos come to mind, inject tons of gases into the atmosphere in far greater quantities than we could hope to duplicate. Ozone “holes” are a doomsayers perennial favorite as well.
I remember being told in grade school that the world would “run out” (As in completely) of Oil by the 1990’s; I’m still waiting. I know there are serious environmental concerns, but flat out fabrication and propaganda tends to discredit the environmentalists and make reasonable people suspicious.
