Please Recommend a Good cheap stand alone DVD-Recorder.

I see DVD-Recorders selling for under $100 and the low $100s. What is a good easy to use, reliable and fairly inexpensive unit?

What features should I look for?
Do any record in 1080i?
Are there any issues I should know about concerning recording from DVR to DVD?
Legal or Technical?

Units that look interesting possibly under $100:
Samsung DVD-R130 DVD Recorder
Samsung DVD-R120 DVD Recorder
[Apex DRX-9200 DVD](Recorder http://techbargains.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=4773707)

Toshiba D-R4 DVD Recorder

Etc.

There’s always some wisenheimer in threads like this who suggests something way out of the OP’s price range … it may as well be me.

I have a Sony VRD-VC20, which Amazon is currently selling for $218, and I love it. I’ve had it since August 2005. At first I had it hooked up to my VCR, but since this past October it’s been connected to my TiVo.

The only thing I’ve found is that everything that appears on screen gets recorded – volume changes, pauses, etc. That didn’t happen with the VCR. It’s just a minor thing, though.

You just missed a deal on Woot for a Lite-On DVD Recorder for $69.99. Maybe they’ll have it again or during the next wootoff.

Thanks, I think my primary use is going to be dumping DVR to DVD instead to VHS. The DVR is getting full of can’t erase items.

Are Lite-on good quality? I remember when they were #2 in the CD-recorders for computers. If so, this could be perfect.
