Please recommend an online "ticketing" site

I work for a non-profit agency, and we’re holding an event that is free to the public, but we need to control how many people can be admitted to the venue. We need a simple, free, online resource that would allow people to sign up to go to this thing, get a ticket (or whatever process that might exist), and we get feedback on how many people are going.

The person in charge here came up with something, which was deemed too complex by the higher-ups. I have no idea if this is true or not, but our constituency tends to be of older folks, possibly not particularly technology savvy. So, this needs to be super simple.

Any suggestions? Need answer fast!

How about something as simple as:

If you wish to attend, email Ellencherry at herworkemail dot com for tickets. Please include the number in your party.

You then email them back a ticket they can print out. Might want to set up a dummy account only for this event to fight spam. Either way, you can keep a running count as you reply to the emails.

Yeah, but there are places that will do that far you. Automated, like. We don’t want to babysit this thing.

Check out eventbrite.

Brown Paper Tickets is very popular around here w/ organizations like yours, and a percentage of the profits go to charity.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’m passing them along.
