Please suggest recent UK serials for me

Thank you. I love period dramas and especially spy dramas so the Bletchley Park one looks really interesting. Parades End I saw but I’m not sure if I was able to get the last couple episodes so I’ll have to look into it. That was one I had a lot problems with the audio. The mixing was horrible and the voice tracks seem to get buried under the other sound tracks so between that and the accents . . . bitch, bitch, bitch . . .

I don’t think the midwife one is my speed, but I don’t know. This thread will eventually go in Evernote so I’ll take that one under advisement.

The hour also looks interesting and seems like it might have some elements of ‘The Spies of Warsaw’ which I enjoyed.

The Hour lost its way, imo. The writer was banging out too much material point at that point and it just didn’t have the depth or ideas. Hence cancelled after S2.

Utopia - probably a generation thing but I felt style triumphed. Many (mainly younger) people liked it. Certainly visually strong.

He gets harder to understand when emotional (faster, higher delivery). Otherwise … we’re used to them

Yep, top quality show; great, great acting. Very strong emotional and character development. No zombies or aliens.

Another vote for Broadchurch.

I sat down over the weekend and watched all four eps back to back.

Excellent acting and story - and lots and lots of DT!
That said, god bless CC, otherwise this 'merican would have a bit o trouble understanding what** anyone **says!

Thanks for the commentary gents. I’ve seen Broadchurch but we also have the lurkers to think of. Interesting stuff on The Hour and Utopia BB. Thanks.

Foyle’s War

Foyle’s War is a perennial favorite and as it happens I just recently watched the latest season - I think it’s now cancelled, but there might be some doubt about that - might be a movie or something.

I should probably try to mention some of what I’ve watched. Inspector Lewis - the spin-off from Inspector Morse, which I think is just called Lewis in the UK. The BBC’s Wallander - as opposed to the Swedish version. Scott and Bailey, which I think I mentioned up thread. Luther, Ripper Street, Copper, most of what’s been on BBC America.

But feel free to mention things again with your commentary for other Anglophiles.

This is a little off topic, but I’m almost through The Fades and wanted to say it is really wonderful fantasy/horror. It’s completely unpredictable and actually had me jump out of my seat on a couple of occasions (and not in cases where you might expect). It also doesn’t hurt that it has Natalie Dormer from Game of Thrones in a supporting role. Some elements aren’t wholly original, but still very good I thought.

Actually, you might like Psychoville - laugh out funny at times and wonderfully silly:

IDK. I don’t think I’ve ever like UK comedies for some reason although I’ve like John Oliver better than Jon Stewart for the Daily Show - so there’s that.
