I’m re-watching season 1 of Mad Men. (Yes, it’s as good as I’d remembered).
In the episode “5G”, we meet Draper’s half brother Adam Whitman. Adam informs Draper that all the rest of the family is dead, including Uncle Mack.
In the next episode “Babylon” we witness a flashback in which Draper remembers Adam being born. Uncle Mack is present, and he reminds young Dick Whitman (who later changed his name to Don Draper) that he and Adam have the same father.
Later in the series, we learn that Draper’s father was Archie Whitman. And that Abigail Whitman (Adam’s mother) took up with Uncle Mack after Archie died.
So, Archie Whitman should have still been alive when Adam was born, with Uncle Mack entering the picture later.
My guess is, they didn’t have the backstory fully developed at the time these episodes were filmed. Thoughts?
I think we can dispense with the spoiler boxes, as it says spoiler in your thread heading.
Your conclusion - Archie must have been alive when Adam was born, with Uncle Mack coming onto the scene sometime later isn’t necessarily true. Why couldn’t Archie have died beofre Adam’s birth?
