Plotlines that were abandoned mid-series with no explanation

Chuck Cunningham

Moon Bloodgood’s cop character Detective Paxson was dropped after only 3 episodes in the third season of Burn Notice.

They did a half ass job of dumping her. Weston does something nice and suddenly this cop disappears off the face of the earth. I kind of liked the character. They need a cop character that keeps an eye on Weston’s actions.

Waaaalt!

Leonard had a doctor (real doctor, not geek doctor) girlfriend in Big Bang Theory for a few episodes. Suddenly she disappeared without explanation and hasn’t even been mentioned in the three episodes I’ve watched since her appearance. The plot line might not have been abandoned, because I haven’t seen the whole series yet, but it sure looks that way to me.

She shows up again, but they did break up in her last appearance before her disappearance.

Zhaan’s hyper-fast movement abilities, displayed when she paints in an early season one episode, never re-appear in Farscape.

Of course, the already mentioned glowing spines of BSG are just horrible and better left forgotten.

X-files, of course, is nothing but forgotten storylines.

The character if Mandy simply vanished between S1 and S2 of the West Wing and was never mentioned agains (except once, in passing, a couple of years later).

And talking about vanishing:

In other words, she was in a future that suddenly ceased to exist. That means that she probably ceased to exist along with it. Maybe not a fate worth than deat, but still kind of final.

Seven Bundy

Can we say Dallas and “It was all a dream?”

Poor Seven was spotted on the back of a milk carton in the Bundy home :stuck_out_tongue: - good enough for me, the kid added nothing to the show.

I was always curious as to why and how George, on Grey’s Anatomy, coming from a family of simple-minded, borderline redneck galoots, came to be a doctor. As did Izzy, who came from her own special background. Little mysteries in life.

In the first season of NCIS, at the end of each episode, Gibbs would ride off into the sunset with a beautiful redhead. The rest of the cast often speculated about this mysterious woman. After about half a season, this just went away, although Gibbs liking for redheads did not.

You know, I think that was deliberate. Gibbs is not a yapper, even with people he loves. He MIGHT tell Ducky or Abby if he was seeing someone they hadn’t met, but it’s not certain; and he definitely would not see any reason to tell Tony & Kate about it.

IIRC, he and his wife had a big argument when he saw her at a casino or club (and it turned out that she was trying arrange a party for him or something). I think there was also a scene with Willows and Warrick talking about the end of his marriage.

That was part of a plot on an episode of Las Vegas with James Cahn… are you conflating the two?

Blasphemer. Gibbs does not buy boats. He builds them. He builds boats and waits, like Chuck Norris.

24 season 4.

Behrooz Araz gets traded to the terrorists in exchange for Jack Bauer’s life and is never seen again.

End of thread.

WCW never did reveal who DDP’s mystery benefactor was.

Yes! Two unexplained acronyms. TYVM

Did anything ever happen with Ricky Ricardo’s movie career? They had on a lot of guest stars (Harpo Marx, Richard Widmark, Van Johnson, John Wayne, William Holden, Rock Hudson) when they went to Los Angeles. Little was said about it in later episodes of “I Love Lucy” although one episode set in Florida they meet Claude Akins who says we met last year in Los Angeles.

On “Alias” did Sydney Bristow ever get her college degree (balancing being a spy/undercover agent was a major plot the first year?. She did meet one of her professors in a later episode overseas.

World Championship Wrestling (which was never called that, so it’s kind of like complaining about someone not expanding ‘CSI’ when talking about the show) and wrestler Diamond Dallas Page.

Wouldn’t have been hard to google… For ‘WCW’ 9/10 of the results on the first page are on point (although several point to WWE’s site, that’s because they absorbed WCW back when they were the WWF), and ‘wcw ddp’ turns up DDP as all the hits on the first page - just DDP gets various other things called ‘DDP’ including a Wikipedia disambig page, so, not as useful (although Page is listed, that he was with the WCW isn’t mentioned, so that wouldn’t be much help).
