Great TV Mysteries... Never solved

List your favorite mystery that you never got an answer for, and presumably there is no answer for.

I’m not talking about something like “Who shot JR?” I’m talking about an event in the series that seemed important at the time, but the answer was never revealed.

If someone else knows the answer, feel free to address it. Hopefully, there won’t be many that have actual answers, but if one does, clear up the torture that someone else has been suffering from.

My example?

The Sopranos…

During the “Pine Barrens” episode, Paulie and Christopher take a Russian into the woods to bury him, but he manages to get away by smacking Christopher on the head with a shovel and smacking Paulie in the balls. The two chase the Russian through the woods, shooting at him as they run. One bullet appears to hit the Russian in the head, and it loos like he falls, however he gets up, and runs away… When Paulie and Christopher get to where he was hit, there are some blood stains in the sonow, but the foot prints seem to end and they can’t find him.

My question: what happened to the Russian? It was never revealed in the show, and basically it was dropped from the plot.

This is my great mystery… What’s yours?

On HIMYM: What was the deal with the pineapple!

What was going on in Twin Peaks?

Did Jason Gideon take his own life?

Where did Starbuck’s shiny new viper come from?

How did someone write a Bob Dylan tune 70,000 years early on the other side of the galaxy?

From Happy Days:

What happened to Chuck Cunningham?

You’ve got to be more specific with this one. There were too many things, some of which did have answers… More that didn’t!

Great one. The guy just vanished!

What happened with Susie’s pregnancy that was a minor story arc in season three of Curb Your Enthusiasm? She never gives birth and it isn’t mentioned again. Did she lose the baby after the Nanny From Hell pushed her off the balcony?

Probably went to Russia and had a son.

What about the goat? Did they ever finish that story? I thought I’ve kept up with the series for the last 4-5 years and don’t remember what happened.

Was Higgins really Robin Masters?

Did Sunnydale change its name to Sudden Valley and become the site of a short-lived real estate boom?

Does Malcolm Reynolds ever find peace?

Those Dinosaurs on a Spaceship (Doctor Who dummies and ST:VOY smarties), where are they now?

From* Homicide: Life On the Streets*, who killed Adina Watson?

Not unless he did it after he drove away from the diner, and there’s no suggestion that he did.

Earl Jr’s true father on “My Name is Earl.” Darnell’s parentage thrown into doubt in the last episode of the series, before it was cancelled.

“The Sopranos” ending.

What happened to ALF after he was captured by government agents in that series’ last episode before cancellation?

There was a TV movie for that.

But IIRC, it also brought up the question of the Tanners (they were handwaved away, but the series established that they probably wouldn’t have stayed that way if they could help it).

Great choice.

There was also the mystery of why Crosetti committed suicide.

House also did a similar thing with Dr. Kutner’s suicide.

As I typed what you responded to, I remembered him at the diner saying he didn’t know where he was going.

How could Mr. Ed talk?

He advised Wilbur not to wonder, as it was “bigger than both of [them].”
