Plotlines that were abandoned mid-series with no explanation

The reason people thought there would be more is because of the TV/movie rule of if you don’t see the body the guy isn’t dead. They very deliberately left it open and even added to it when you see that Paulie’s car is stolen at the end. It’s clear that they wanted people to speculate on what happened to the guy. Personally I hoped they’d never resolve it but I can hardly blame people who thought there would be a resolution.

I’m with Marley on this one. Not only that, but The Sopranos was closer to real life than any action movie about ex-special forces. Much more likely than busting into an illegal military-grade weapons store and storming Staten Island (like in Commando) is that the guy went far away and into hiding to avoid mob vengeance. Even though Paulie and Chris weren’t really after him, he would most likely think they wanted him dead after what happened.

On that note – the end of season 2 (of the same show).

Mandy initiates “Plan B” – giving President Palmer the poison handshake of death.

Season 3 starts, blowing right past that plot point with barely a mention (other than something like “once the instigators were rounded up” or some such thing).

It was more than barely a mention. Palmer is often seen holding his hand, as if in pain, and it’s shown that he started a relationship with the doctor that treated him. But the main story of it is overlooked, but intentionally, as (IIRC) 24: The Game follows the events between seasons 2 and 3.

I ahve no idea if it is any good, but I do know a couple people who played it only because they wanted to know what happened, :p.

Right, I remember about the doctor (and him holding his hand), but none of that seemed really relevant to anything else – and his doctor girlfriend was cut loose after a handful of episodes. Much ado about nothing, really.

I didn’t know about the game, though. I figured they thought they might use that incident – presented as kind of a cliffhanger – as setting up something relevant in Season 3. But nothing that happened in season 3 had anything to do with it.
