Plots you'd like to see (probably some spoilers)

I was going to respond to this post in the Disappointing Movies thread, but I thought I’d make a new one instead.

Anyway, what I’d like to see some time is a fantasy or space opera-ish novel/movie/whatever in which the Chosen One arrives as prophesied, you know, farm boy with elite magical talent blah blah, collects his first Plot Coupon, and then takes an arrow and dies. No resurrection, no passing-on-the-baton, no coming back as a ghost, just, you know, dead. And the supporting cast has to figure out how to go on from there and actually take down the Dark Lord.

So, two questions:

1 - Has anyone done this?
2 - What other plot subversions would you like to see or did you enjoy seeing?

I was thinking of Psycho when I wrote the OP, but the phrase “pull a Psycho and…” somehow dropped out as I was typing. :slight_smile:
