Oxford English Dictionary verbatim:

“Inflections: Plural octopuses, octopi, (rare) octopodes.”.

The Dictionary offers no commentary on the correctness or otherwise of these variants, only on the rarity of the third (as befits a dictionary that is descriptive and not prescriptive).

For what it’s worth, its earliest entry for octopi is dated 1834, and for octopuses, 1884.
