Points, discharge, WW2

I just finished watching Band of brothers…They talked about discharge and points. Specifically needing 85 points to go home.

All I can find about how they got the points was one point for each month served and extra point for each month of sea duty. Which had nothing to do with the 101st. There has to be other things that they got points for.

Does anyone know a site or know from memory what they were?

The best I can give you is a little fact that almost applies but not really. The Air Force (which was not even around during WWII, was it?) would discharge you based on your missions and the sorties you accomplished/survived.

I am assuming the 101st did the same.

I believe that points were also awarded depending on your family situation back home and for various medals and decorations.

I’ll try to find a site. I’d be interested in seeing the whole list myself.

This might help. Links on the page.
