Pokemon Go Now Available for iPhone and Droid

Bricker, there’s apparently a Blastoise at the White House. I trust you will not use that as an excuse to try and break in there? :stuck_out_tongue:

Do I get unlimited pokeballs? There’s a pokestop around the corner from my office, but a whole lot of nothing near my house.

Just downloaded. Grabbed the starter in my backyard, and then just caught Pidgey on my kitchen table. Silly bird. Need to take a walk tonight to the local Pokestop. Hiking this weekend, will be interesting to see what I find at the top of Mount San Jacinto above Palm Springs.

Once again us Windows phone users get screwed; all 285 of us

You guys and the Zune Diehard Society should get together for picnics and meetings and stuff…

I grabbed two PokeStops (got six pokeballs!) and a couple of pokemon on the way to work this morning, including a Drowzee! There’s a Squirtle somewhere in the neighborhood, according to the “Nearby” window, but I haven’t encountered him yet.

I walked around for twenty minutes trying to find a god damn Squirtle. Didn’t find him.

My wife loves this game. I actually want to get out of the house.

A fully-evolved starter?

Start saving bail money. I’m going in.

I’m enjoying the game, mostly. I keep running into an issue that after I catch a pokemon, the game freezes. The red and white ball is on the screen with the pokemon inside it, but nothing else happens. I find I have to force close the app and reload. Anyone else have this issue?

Also, I don’t understand the point of gyms. I think I understand the design and what I’m supposed to do there, but everyone else is so far ahead that it seems pointless to me. As far as I can tell, I have to win to get any benefit from the gyms, but since everyone is much higher level I can’t access any benefit. Am I missing something? I suppose I can just run around and catch more pokemon, but by the time I’m higher level, presumably everyone else will also be higher level.

Am I right to understand that I’m running around capturing sentient pokemon then forcing them to fight each other? And this isn’t weird or disturbing to anyone?

Should I rename my pokemon Spartacus?

You gotta fling it a little higher/harder for the flying types it seems. Keep trying.

They’re all the same people.

HEY! Come on now! Idle - this should at least get a note!

The funny thing is there’s so few of us no one has bothered to make any malware -meanwhile about a bajillion Android users have been hacked…Jesus I sound like an Apple wank now…

I don’t know if there’s an upper limit on the number of pokeballs you can carry, but no, you don’t get infinite pokeballs. You get more pokeballs when you level, and pokestops can drop balls when you spin the medal. You can buy them with pokecoins in the shop, too. If you go into your inventory you can see how many pokeballs you have.

There is an upper limit, but not on poke balls specifically. The item limit is for all items. I had to ditch a bunch of poke balls so I could still get stuff from stops.

Yeah, there appears to be a bigger backpack in the shop, as well.

Running errands has let me hit the jackpot this weekend.

Ms. Cups drives and I catch Pokemon along the way!

What am I supposed to do with the pokemen (pokemons?) when I catch them? I leveled up a couple of ones I caught, then I stopped because I don’t want to waste resources randomly. I see people talk about evolving–looks like it costs a lot of “candy” to do that. Is there some ultimate goal and a strategy to get there?

I think you’re supposed to take them to a gym location to battle them. But you need to be at least level 5 to do that. (I’m only level 4 myself)

Also, you can trade in duplicates for an extra candy of that type. When you have the pokemon’s window open, there should be a “Transfer” button at the bottom, under the map. Hit that and you get rid of the duplicate and get its candy.

Lots of talk on some police pages I belong to. People walking into traffic. Cars stopping in intersections. Calls of suspicious people wandering around private property. It won’t be long before a bad story comes out. But at least kids are outside walking.
