In a recent issue of Card Player magazine, Bob Ciaffone asks readers to help him research how poker games such as Texas Hold’em and Omaha got their names. He seems to doubt that either game originated in Texas or Nebraska. I searched the boards here and couldn’t find any enlightenment.
I got to thinking about other poker jargon as I searched. How did the best possible hand come to be known as “the nuts?” Why are cards that don’t help your hand called “bricks” or “rags?”
I could go on, but you get the gist. Anyone know of a good source to research the etymology of poker?
