Polar Bear Attack - Man Survives - Be warned - extremely graphic pics of injuries

Wow… a bear will mess you up.

You’re not wrong about the graphic nature of the photos astro.

Holy shit, what a friggin mess. That bloke has one hell of a lot of recovering to do. :frowning:

Whoa. Are they actually going to try to save that foot?

The foot is fine. It’s the ankle I’d be worried about.

That seems rather odd to post such graphic pictures without any sort of explanation.

I mean I understand how the guy got f’ed up, but how did the bear end up missing a bunch of its ass?

Snopes already covered this. The last pic is someone with a gunshot wound to the ankle, not a wound from a bear attack.

I did wonder how the hell the bear accomplished that without a pickaxe.

I have a sudden urge to buy a pair of Kevlar sneakers.

That blown-apart ankle has been circulating the internet for a long time, now. I’ve always understood it was an accidental shotgun blast.

And - yeesh. I’d always heard degloving scalp injuries were a common side-effect of bear maulings, but that’s just awful - his face looks pretty messed up from the brief glimpse we get of it.

Any information on how long all this took before somebody found a gun? Hard to imagine what must’ve been running through his mind.

A bear?

I certainly think it was beginning to sink in at least.

Payback for the Global Warming reducing the ice sheet and making it harder to catch seals.

Yep. Polar bears, desperate and starving, are arming themselves and shooting humans…in the ankles. Just wait until they learn to aim. That’ll show us.

Best gruesome laugh today.

I’ve been dealing with a moderately-torn Achilles tendon.

After seeing that ankle, I’m no longer complaining.

Really? His achilles looks to be fine.

Between grizzlies and polar bears, I think I would worry more about living near the latter than the former. Polar bears are eerily good at problem-solving, and seem to have a higher IQ than grizzlies. They’ve been known to use their claws to pry out the windshields from trucks on the North Slope because they know that there may be food inside.

prying things out from under ice…

prying things out from under glass…

not that big a jump, but impressive none the less. polar bears are also very good and getting into houses.
